I was at a conference in Phoenix, AZ, a few weeks ago, and could resist taking some pictures of the conference and the buildings. I’ll have more from Phoenix later, but wanted to put these up while they were still somewhat relevant:
INFORMS is the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science.
I’d just like to point out that the Phoenix convention center is HUGE. It takes up three entire city blocks. There were (at least) two other conferences happening in the convention center at the same time. Crazy.
Also, the ceilings in the convention center were straight out of Portal. I kept expecting Chell to blast an orange hole in one and drop to the ground. And the carpet looked like cool Native American sand paintings.
Finally, we were greeted by this… message every morning. I spent most of the conference wondering if the fact that the artist spelled “guarantee” wrong meant that he was insane, but then I just looked it up and it turns out that “guaranty” is actually a valid spelling of the word. Who knew?
