This week’s theme was “geometry”, and was open for interpretation. I had several ideas for this shot, but didn’t end up trying to take any of them until tonight, and ended up with a shot that was totally unplanned! I’m very proud of this shot, I think it’s one of my favorites from the 52 weeks challenge thus far.
I was playing around with some different objects, looking for something that was “geometric” but non-standard; I was intending to do the final shot in my light box, but was using this table for some initial “test shots”. I first noticed the reflection in the glass and went, “Oh, reflections are geometric!” Then I was moving the camera around to look for different angles and caught the lights reflecting in the glass and knew I had my shot. From there I just did some tweaking to find the right object and right shooting angle to really drive the point home, and I think this shot nailed it. Of course in post-processing, I went for the square crop. š
