This week’s prompt was our first artist spotlight. These are some of my favourite prompts, since I get to learn about photographers that I’ve not really studied or known about before. So I was excited to get to tackle this one! Astrid Kirchherr is best-known for her photos of the Beatles in the band’s early days, but I was actually most drawn-in by this self-portrait she made:
I’m not sure why, there’s just something about the expression on her face, the perfect framing of the tree branches, and the old mirror that really spoke to me. So I decided to try to emulate this shot with a self-portrait of my own:
